On the Aspect Hike for autism 2020 you’ll trek the Cape to Cape track in Western Australia and raise funds to help create a world where no one on the autism spectrum is left behind.

Are you ready for a life-changing adventure? The Aspect Hike for autism is your chance to step outside your comfort zone, experience one of Australia’s best treks, and best of all, make sure everyone on the autism spectrum has the support and encouragement they need to thrive.

The 130km Cape to Cape Track traverses the length of Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park in Western Australia and overlooks the adjoining Ngari Capes Marine Park, alternating spectacular sweeping cliff-top views with stretches of pristine beach.

As part of this adventure, you’ll trek 77km of the very best sections of the track. Featuring stunning forests, spectacular coastal outlooks, and a variety of fascinating cliffs, caves, and rock formations, this will be the adventure of a lifetime. Best of all, you’ll help raise funds for Aspect to provide the best possible opportunities for people on the autism spectrum.

Autism is a lifelong developmental condition characterised by difficulties in social interaction, communication, restricted and repetitive interests and behaviours, and sensory sensitivities. No two people on the autism spectrum are alike, and all have unique strengths and interests.

The word spectrum reflects the wide range of challenges that people on the spectrum experience and the extent to which they may be affected. An estimated 1 in 70 Australians are on the autism spectrum; that is around 353,880 people. Along with their family members, this means autism is a part of daily life for over a million Australians.

The quality of life for many children and adults can be significantly improved by an early diagnosis and appropriate evidence informed treatment.

The funds you raise on this adventure will enable Aspect to respond to calls for help from a mum or dad whose child has just been diagnosed, provide early intervention therapy, allow children to attend our Aspect schools or ensure adults with autism have opportunities to get involved with their communities.
