Trek the incredible Tarkine rainforest in support of Bob Brown Foundation

Tasmania’s Tarkine wilderness is one of the world’s last truly wild places. And when you join the Tarkine Trek with the Bob Brown Foundation, you’ll also be raising funds to help ensure its survival.

Your 7 day trek begins with a cup of tea with Bob Brown at his home in the untouched Liffey Valley – you are sure to be inspired by his humility, passion and commitment to the environmental cause.

From your starting point at Launceston to Corinna, Mount Donaldson, Stanley and beyond, you will experience all the mystery and majesty the Tarkine has to offer.

You’ll discover the unique and ancient habitats of this stunning region: vast forests of myrtle, leatherwood and pine trees that are a living link to Gondwana, as well as rugged mountains, wild rivers and spectacular beaches, trekking up to 12 km a day. You will also cruise the Pieman River aboard the historic MV Arcadia, and have the option to explore the river further on a self-guided canoeing expedition.

Best of all, with every kilometre you cover, you will be helping the Bob Brown Foundation raise funds for its campaign to see the region protected.

The funds you raise will go directly towards our Tarkine Future 2020 campaign, which is calling for the Tarkine to be recognised as a National Park and World Heritage Area by 2020.

The Tarkine wilderness is the largest tract of cool, temperate rainforest in Australia. It should be protected. Instead it is being logged, mined and smashed by 4WD tracks dissecting its heritage coast.

By joining the Tarkine Trek 2017 you will help us fight to protect the Tarkine, including its wildlife, rainforests, button-grass, wild coast and pristine streams.
