Join the Hike for Health, a life-changing Outback trek to help Tasmanians affected by cancer.

The Hike for Health is an extraordinary adventure that will unite like minded people to trek for their local health organisation and make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of their friends, family members and neighbours.

The Larapinta Trail is regarded as one of Australia’s premier walking tracks. From the old Alice Springs Telegraph Station to the peak of Mount Sonder, the trail stretches 223 kilometres along the backbone of the West MacDonnell Ranges.

As part of this incredible – yet challenging – adventure, you will stand on ancient escarpments and gaze out upon the ochre-coloured landscapes of Central Australia. You will follow Aboriginal Dreaming tracks and trek beside one of the world’s oldest river systems.

By day, you will challenge yourself as you trek across the Red Centre, experiencing the diversity of desert habitats and learn the unique history of Australia’s Indigenous peoples. At night, you will fall asleep to the sounds of native wildlife under a blanket of stars.

All funds raised for Cancer Council Tasmania stay in Tasmania, meaning more support to your friends, family members and neighbours. The funds you raise as part of the Hike for Health will fund support programs, research grants and cancer prevention education in Tasmania.

    • $900 could help Cancer Council Tasmania to run a small group Pilates program for six weeks specially aimed at cancer patients
    • $1,800 could fund two six-week programs of Mindfulness for patients and their carers in a Cancer Support Centre or give 30 patients an oncology massage.
    • $4,550 would pay the energy bills of 15 patients whilst they are undergoing cancer treatment or help 5 young people who have been impacted by cancer attend TAFE or University.

“As an organisation that relies on the community for over 90% of our funds, we are humbled by the selfless support and generosity of our donating public, who we can very proudly continue to advise, that all the funds stay here in Tasmania.”

– Penny Egan, CEO
