Cycle your way across the magical region of Rajasthan in northern India and challenge yourself to do something incredible – raise funds for better choice, better access and better participation in sport and recreation for all Victorians with disability.
This unique experience involving riders with and without disability will begin in the vibrant and bustling city of Delhi. Be encapsulated by the diversity of sights, sounds and smells as you explore the maze of frenzied streets and colourful markets, uncover historic temples and marvel at the liveliness of it all. Leaving the cacophony of Delhi behind, the team will travel to Udaipur where your 400km cycling challenge journey begins.
Over seven cycling days, you’ll make your way from Udaiper to Jodhpur, cycling amongst a landscape of lush forests and wild grasslands, stopping to visit Jain Temples and experience life in local villages. Take in the sights of Jodhpur, the “Blue City”, and visit the beautiful Mehrangarh Fort. After completing your challenge, travelling back to Delhi and, revel in the success of your incredible adventure with a visit to the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal, a stunning symbol of India’s history and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
When you take part in this adventure, you’ll be helping Disability Sport & Recreation to fulfil their vision of a Victoria where all people living with disability can choose and access any sport or active recreation they want to engage with. This work is desperately needed as people with disability are 40% less likely to be active, missing out on the physical and social benefits that most take for granted. All the funds raised will go towards supporting DSR’s inclusion awareness program, WheelTalk. This program encourages students in Victorian schools to think about diversity, acceptance, disability and inclusion, and currently reaches 19,000 primary and secondary students each year across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
The program is presented by Victorians with a disability, combining unique stories of lived disability with the opportunity to play wheelchair sport. Importantly, the program inspires conversations regarding diversity, acceptance, disability and inclusion to assist people with disability to feel more comfortable to participate in their communities.
By joining this adventure, you’ll be helping create positive change amongst the next generation of Victorians by supporting DSR to promote better choice, better access and better participation in sport and recreation for all Victorians with disability.
