Join the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Tuscany Trek 2020 and help us provide vital 24-7 aeromedical search and rescue service for the people of Northern NSW.
On this amazing 10-day adventure, you’ll journey to the heart of Tuscany, Italy.
Trekking over five days across scenic undulating hills and woodland, you will challenge yourself in ways you never thought possible, all while experiencing the breathtaking beauty of the Tuscan countryside.
Travelling along the Via Francigena, an ancient road and pilgrim route that runs from France to Rome, you will witness a range of mesmerising towns, from the hilltop town of Monteriggioni to two impressive UNESCO World Heritage sites. From the breathtaking town of San Gimignano, with its medieval towers, to the magnificent Siena – a historical, artistic, cultural and gastronomic gem – you will experience it all.
Your adventure comes to an end with a half-day sightseeing tour of Siena. You will visit medieval monuments filled with collections of Sienese art – the Piazza del Campo and Siena’s most famous museum, Museo Civico.
Best of all, every dollar you raise on this adventure helps to keep the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter flying 24-7 for those in need.
Nobody has ever had to pay to be assisted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. It costs over 3.5 million dollars per year to keep the Rescue Helicopter Service flying. It is through community support, events and other fundraising activities that we can reach this target.
Every dollar you raise on the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Tuscany Trek 2020 contributes to keeping the Rescue Helicopter Service available 24/7, 365 days a year and free for all patients.
Our flight region is the QLD border south to Macksville, west to Glen Innes and Tenterfield, east beyond the coastline. This is approximately 40,000 square kilometres of land and a further 40,000 square kilometres of ocean.
We perform 3 main missions: Primary, Inter-Hospital Transfers, Search & Rescue. Our AW139 helicopters are flying intensive care units. They can carry two patients or a baby infant carrier.
Whether you are living or travelling in our flight path, we are available in your time of need. For you, your family or friends our aeromedical service provides life-saving rescues every day.
On average, we perform more than one mission per day, approx 400 missions per year. Since the beginning of our service in 1982 we have flown over 9,500 missions.
On the farm, in the ocean, on our roads or from the top of Mount Warning, we will come to your rescue.
