SolarBuddy is calling on you to help end energy poverty one child, one light and one community at a time!

There’s nowhere in the world quite like Australia’s Red Centre. Vast landscapes, breath-taking views and some of the most iconic images of Australia. On this adventure, we will be trekking one of the most spectacular walking tracks in the world—the Larapinta Trail.

From the old Alice Springs Telegraph Station to the peak of Mount Sonder, the trail stretches 223 kilometres along the backbone of the West MacDonnell Ranges. The trek takes us on a journey along the most spectacular and rewarding sections of the trail. Following Aboriginal Dreaming tracks and exploring the beautiful mountains, valleys, rivers and the dramatic desert landscapes of the Red Centre.

Experience the diversity of desert habitats and visit sites sacred to the Western Arrernte people and fall asleep to the sounds of native wildlife under a blanket of stars.

With the support of expert guides, and the camaraderie of like-minded teammates, we’ll explore this awe-inspiring region and take part in a special project visit in Alice Springs.

Energy poverty results in a reduced ability to study after dark, contributing to poor educational and health outcomes. SolarBuddy help break this cycle, by providing students with innovative portable solar lights, allowing them to continue their study in the evenings and reduce their exposure to toxic energy sources such as kerosene.

Through this initiative, SolarBuddy hopes to raise $5,000 per person—the equivalent of 100 lights—in an effort to end energy poverty.

“In a crowded market where all charities stand for an important cause whether addressing local issues or global ones, SolarBuddy has managed to stand out the front of the crowd.

SolarBuddy faces the challenges of eradicating energy poverty in a unique way, consistently innovating ways to engage, educate & illuminate the lives of 6M children currently living in energy poverty. Their team activities are engaging, educational, varied & leave everyone in the room inspired to take action in some form. SolarBuddy take you on a journey to not only place a light into the hand of a child but to truly understand the issue and the impact we as individuals and businesses can have through small or large actions, underpinned by their commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal’s is a powerful tool to understand how we can all make a difference” – Natalie Simmons, Global General Manager.
