Join the Larapinta Walk Alongside Women and help women who have had contact with the criminal justice system be treated with dignity and receive the mentorship they need to successfully re-join their community.

Larapinta Walk Alongside Women will see a team of passionate supporters of Women’s Justice Network (WJN) take on part of the legendary Larapinta Trail in Central Australia. The team will trek to raise funds to help WJN help women who have had contact with the criminal justice system.

From ochre-coloured outcroppings to spring-fed gorges and star-lit skies, the outback is home to some of the most iconic scenery in the world. You’ll experience it all on Larapinta Walk Alongside Women as you trek with like-minded teammates to support Women’s Justice Network’s mentor program.

By taking on Larapinta Walk Alongside Women for Women’s Justice Network (WJN), you’ll help women in the criminal justice system be treated with dignity and receive the mentorship they need to reintegrate into the community.

WJN takes a case management approach and uses mentoring as a core component of supporting women. Mentoring provides a non-judgemental, one-on-one, positive female role model to support each woman and provide pro-social support. It takes just $6,000 to fund a mentorship program for one woman for one year, but we’re limited by funding, and the waiting list is long. We aim to raise $60,000 on the Larapinta Walk for Women to immediately get 10 women off the waiting list and onto the path to a brighter future alongside a mentor.

Currently WJN is funded by the state government to coordinate just 50 mentoring relationships per year despite there being almost 1,000 women in prison in NSW and over 2,500 cycling through prison in a year. We’re so thankful for the generous corporates, families and individuals just like you who support our work and help increase our program capacity.
