The Difference You'll Make
For over a decade, 350 Australia has been working for a future where the lands, oceans, forests, rivers and lakes that we all care about are thriving and everyone has what they need to live with dignity. With our campaign partners Our Islands Our Home, movement collaborators and hundreds of grassroots volunteers, we have:
-
Successfully pushed Commonwealth Bank to divest from fossil fuels. CommBank was one of Australia’s biggest funders of oil, coal and gas
-
Supported the Torres Strait 8 to win a historic human rights case against the Australian government for failing to act on climate change
-
Elevated the voices of Torres Strait Island communities through partnerships with Melbourne Fashion Week, Ben & Jerry’s, Patagonia and Clothing The Gaps
-
Secured a $77 million boost for climate resilience in the Torres Strait in the 2025 federal budget
-
Worked with 14 councils in NSW to require new buildings to be fully electric
But we can’t do any of this without you. Our movement is funded by grants and donations — we don’t accept money from governments or fossil fuel corporations so that we can remain independent and in service of the planet we all call home. When you join the Kayak for Climate in the Whitsundays 2026, your funds raised will help 350 Australia to:
-
Back the protection and return of First Nations lands and island homes
-
Work to end fossil fuels and secure a just transition
-
Shift hearts, minds and spirits through storytelling, ceremony, community building and events
-
Build and strengthen the movement for climate justice with training, resources, community building and digital tools
-
Support communities to change policies, practices and resource flows in service of Country and climate

The adventure of a lifetime begins! This morning we will be picked up to meet our guide and the rest of the team before being shuttled to Shute Harbour. Our kayaks and supplies will be loaded onto a small barge, taking us to Steen’s Beach, situated on the northwestern tip of Hook Island. After setting up camp, we will set off to explore Bai Hai Island, famed for its dazzling natural beauty and outstanding reef ecosystem. Then, we make our way to Langford Island, the perfect spot to stop for lunch. Langford Island is encircled by underwater coral gardens, small fish species and sometimes even turtles. Of course, we will happily arrange for any dietary requirements you’ve noted during booking to be catered for. Please advise your local guide on Day 1 as well.
