The Difference You'll Make

Take on the CEO Dare to Cure challenge of a lifetime and help change the future for children with cancer.

We believe life should be long. That every child should get the chance to grow up and grow old. To plan exciting futures, chase their dreams, and live a life full of possibilities.

But sadly, cancer cuts life short for hundreds of children every year - before they’ve even had a chance to make their mark.

In just one unforgettable day, you’ll conquer three of Australia’s highest peaks - Mount Kosciuszko, Mount Carruthers and Mount Twynam - while exploring the rugged beauty of the Snowy Mountains. This challenging 22km trek through Kosciuszko National Park is not only a chance to push your physical limits, but also a powerful opportunity to walk in support of life-saving research.

Funds raised will support Children’s Cancer Institute, whose vision is simple: to save the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health through research.

With every step you take, you’ll help advance vital research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancers - bringing hope to families across Australia.

Get ready for the dare of a lifetime as we tackle three of NSW’s highest peaks: Mt Kosciuszko, Etheridge Ridge and Mt Carruthers in a single day!

You will make your way to Perisher for the start of our adventure. You will need to arrive in the late afternoon (check-in is from 3 pm), in time for our welcome drink and team briefing at 6 pm to prepare to summit three of Australia’s highest mountains. Following this, we will all enjoy our first meal together. Be sure to get an early night - we have a big day ahead of us!

Accommodation: Ski Lodge

Meals: D

Today’s the big day! We depart our lodge after breakfast and take a 15-minute drive to Charlotte Pass, the starting point of our trek. We start by descending to the Snowy River which we cross via stepping stones. However, if the water levels are high, we may need to wade through knee to waist-deep water. From the Snowy River, we climb steadily towards Blue Lake enjoying views of the deepest of five glacial lakes. We continue upward towards our first peak, Mt Carruthers (2,145 m) with stunning views across to Victoria and NSW, as well as the western fall, dominated by the Sentinel. The section of the trail here is just magnificent as we trek along the Main Divide where we enjoy rugged landscapes, distant views, and beautifully sculptured glacial lakes. After two hours of walking, we reach the summit of Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 m). After photos and a celebration, we descend to Rawson’s Pass. We then trek cross-country and climb our third peak, Etheridge Ridge (2,180 m), before descending to Seaman’s Hut. The final section of the walk is fast as we follow the well-graded Kosciusko summit road back to Charlotte Pass. We return to our lodge, tired but proud of our achievements, and celebrate over a group dinner together.

How challenging is this adventure?

This adventure is ranked 3/5. While no extensive trekking experience is required prior to registering, our adventures are specifically designed for people who are relatively fit and willing to train. You will be well supported on the adventure, with the guides and your team all cheering you on. You are free to move at your own pace and we will take frequent breaks.

How many people will be on my adventure?

We believe small group travel is better for the planet, and better for you. Our adventures average between 10 - 20 participants, connected by their commitment to the greater good.

Can I join an Inspired Adventure on my own?

Of course, most people do! Throughout your adventure journey, we will connect you with your fellow adventurers so you can get to know each other before you hit the road.

What is the general age range of participants?

The minimum age for this adventure is 18.

I have dietary requirements, will I be catered for?

Of course, we will happily arrange for any dietary requirements you’ve noted during booking to be catered for. Please advise your local guide on Day 1 as well. You will be fed very well while you’re on the adventure, but if you have a very specific dietary requirement or severe allergies, often it’s best to pack some extra things as back-up.

Do I have to carry my own bag?

On most adventures, you'll only need to carry a day bag with essentials for your day of activities. Your luggage/big backpacks will either stay at your accommodation, be transferred to your next accommodation, or will be carried by porters.

Who is Inspired Adventures?

How do I train for this adventure?

We will provide you with information on how to prepare for your adventure when you register. In addition, we recommend that you consult your GP and a personal trainer to develop a training plan that will prepare you for the challenge.

As part of your training, we recommend making use of your free time to complete a full day hike. You should aim to be able to walk in hilly terrain for 8+ hours comfortably.

It is sensible to start training as early as possible before you go on your trek.

How is my luggage transported?

You will only need to carry a day-pack with you each day.

What is the accommodation like?

Accommodation on this adventure is twin or multi share in ski lodges and comfortable camping on the trail and you can expect all of the usual amenities.

Will I be sharing accommodation?

Accommodation on this adventure is based on twin-share. You will be paired with a teammate of the same gender and, whenever possible, age group. Single rooms are available at an additional cost and subject to availability.

I’m travelling with a friend, can we stay together?

Absolutely! If you’re travelling with a friend, please make note of this and we will pair you together.

How do I fundraise?

Never fundraised before? Not sure where to start? No worries, we don’t expect you to do it alone. You will have regular support from the Children’s Cancer Institute fundraising team, who will help you make a fundraising plan to meet your target.

What happens if I don’t meet my fundraising target?

It’s normal to worry you won’t meet your fundraising target, but we know you can do it.

By registering for the adventure, you agree to raise the minimum fundraising amount specified. The goal is for each person to have met their fundraising target before departure. If you fail to raise the minimum fundraising target by this time, Children’s Cancer Institute will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.

I’m travelling with a friend, can we fundraise together?

Absolutely! Fundraising with a friend is a great idea. Just remember the fundraising target is per person, so you will each need to meet the minimum fundraising goal to participate. We know you can do it.
