The Difference You'll Make

Girl Guides Australia exists because girls do. Girls do amazing things. They're makers, influencers, volunteers, carers, recrod setters, bond builders, free-thinkers, leaders, followers and mentors. Above all, they're doers.

How and what they do begins during girlhood. Those developmental years where self-perception is amplified by the people around them. When doing is all about figuring things out.

Girl Guides Australia supports girls every step of their way as they discover who they are, what they value and how they want to lead. That's why helping more Girls to benefit from Guiding is vital.

By taking on the Girl Guides Australia - Trek for Girls Vietnam 2026 challenge, you'll help girls all over Australia. Every dollar you raise will support new programs for girls to explore their interests and exciting resources for the volunteers who mentor and encourage them.

Take the first step and help girls shape the future they deserve.

Trip notes

Upon arrival in Hanoi, make your own way to the hotel to get ready for our first team dinner at a local restaurant this evening.

You can pre-book an airport transfer for an additional cost if you prefer.

Accommodation: 3-star hotel

Meals: D

This morning we will transfer from Hanoi to the mountainous region of Sapa. Renowned for its breathtaking scenery, Sapa is surrounded by terraced rice fields, lush valleys, and towering peaks. Home to various ethnic minority groups, such as the Hmong, Dao, and Tay, Sapa offers a rich cultural tapestry with colourful markets, traditional villages, and vibrant festivals. En route to Sapa, we will experience the meeting point of cultures between China and Vietnam at the border before heading to lunch. Afterwards, we will set off for our first trek from Hang Da Village to Ban Sao Chua. Traverse a less-trodden trail as we descend through local villages, a lush valley and verdant hillsides, enveloped by the serene beauty of nature.

Accommodation: 3-star hotel

Trekking distance: 7 km (2-3 hours)

Meals: B L D

Today we will embark on a walking adventure in Sapa to explore the picturesque route of local villages: Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van. We will immerse ourselves in the cultural tapestry as we traverse these charming villages. Along the way, we will see vast paddy fields nestled into the mountainside providing a stunning backdrop for the day's excursion. There is the chance to experience a herbal foot bath at the Black Mong village in Lao Chai, a therapeutic touch to rejuvenate our senses amid the scenic surroundings. After the invigorating walk, we will indulge in a well-deserved lunch, savouring local flavours that complement the day’s exploration.

Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Trekking distance: 9 km (4-5 hours)

Meals: B L D

After breakfast, we will set off to explore the rugged beauty of Vietnam with a trek along a buffalo trail to Ta Phin Village. This journey offers a genuine experience of Vietnam’s diverse terrain—dirt paths that tell tales of daily rural life, rocky streams that carve through the landscape, and sections of muddy buffalo trails. The trail occasionally steepens, presenting a rewarding challenge and should the weather hold up, views of Fanxipan from the top reward our climb. We will enjoy a picnic lunch before we head toward Ta Phin village for the afternoon.

Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Trekking distance: 11km (7 hours)

Meals: B L D

Today we embark on an exhilarating trek to conquer the summit of Fanxipan Mountain, standing proudly as the “Roof of Indochina'' at a towering height of 3,147 metres. As we ascend to the top, be prepared for an awe-inspiring journey through diverse landscapes, from lush forests to rocky terrains, each step bringing us closer to the breathtaking summit. This summiting experience of Fanxipan promises an extraordinary blend of adventure, natural beauty, and a sense of accomplishment, leaving us with memories that echo the majesty of Vietnam’s highest peak.

Accommodation: Rustic mountain lodge - Hoang Lien National Park

Trekking distance: 8 km (5 hours)

Meals: B L D

We will be up early this morning to conquer the summit. Upon reaching the peak, we will spend time revelling in the panoramic vistas that unfold before us, showcasing the unparalleled beauty of the surrounding landscapes. From the top, we will take the cable car down, providing a unique perspective of the terrain we conquered. Following this enriching experience, bid farewell to Sapa as we will transfer back to the Capital of Vietnam.
Please note that the cable car is subject to weather conditions.

Accommodation: 4-star hotel

Trekking distance: 1 km (2 hours)- There is an option to change the cable car to a walk down, to make it more challenging (10km, 6 hours).

Meals: B L D

After all of our picturesque walks, it is time to relax on an unforgettable day trip to the enchanting Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its breathtaking karst landscapes and emerald waters. Upon reaching Halong Bay, we will hop on a boat and set sail amidst the iconic limestone formations that gracefully emerge from the tranquil waters. Immerse yourself in the serenity of the bay as we cruise past the peaks and explore mysterious caves adorned with stunning stalactites. After our boat ride, we will head back to Hanoi for our final team dinner to celebrate our achievements.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find the answer to your question? Get in touch via email (info@inspiredadventures.com.au) or phone (1300 905 188). We’re always here to help!

How challenging is this adventure?

This adventure is ranked 3/5. While no extensive trekking experience is required prior to registering, our adventures are specifically designed for people who are relatively fit and willing to train.

The Vietnam trek is a physical challenge, and the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the experience. You will be well supported on the adventure by the expert guides and the wider team. You can move at your own pace and we take frequent rest breaks.

How many people will be on my adventure?

We believe small group travel is better for the planet, and better for you. Our adventures average between 10 - 20 participants, connected by their commitment to the greater good.

Can I join an Inspired Adventure on my own?

Of course, most people do! Throughout your adventure journey, we’ll connect you with your fellow adventurers so you can get to know each other before you hit the road.

What is the general age range of participants?

The minimum age for this adventure is 18. We have had participants aged 18–84+ take part in our challenges, all united by their sense of philanthropy and adventure.

I have dietary requirements, will I be catered for?

Of course, we’ll happily arrange for any dietary requirements you’ve noted during booking to be catered for. Please advise your local guide on Day 1 as well. You'll be fed very well while you’re on the adventure, but if you have a very specific dietary requirement or severe allergies, often it’s best to pack some extra things as back-up.

Do I have to carry my own bag?

On most adventures, you'll only need to carry a day bag with essentials for your day of activities. Your luggage/big backpacks will either stay at your accommodation, be transferred to your next accommodation, or will be carried by porters.

Who is Inspired Adventures?

Girl Guides Australia has partnered with Inspired Adventures to bring you this adventure of a lifetime. Over the last 20 years, Inspired Adventures has taken over 8,000 people, just like you, on adventures all around the world, raising over $50 million for important causes. When you choose to travel with Inspired Adventures and Girl Guides Australia, you can be confident you’re in the best hands

How do I train for this adventure?

We will provide you with basic information on how to prepare for your adventure when you register. We recommend that you consult your GP and a personal trainer to develop a training plan that will prepare you for the challenge.

It is sensible to start training as early as possible before you go on your trek. As part of your training, we recommend making use of your weekends to complete a full day hike and if possible, an overnight hike. You should aim to walk in hilly terrain for 6-8 hours and get up to do it again the following day comfortably. Conventional exercise routines that build strength, fitness and stamina, such as aerobics and light weight training can be beneficial, particularly if your fitness level is less than ideal.

What is the accommodation like?

Accommodation on this adventure is twin-share in 3-star hotels and mountain lodges, based on multishare. While the hotels in Vietnam are good quality and comfortable, hotels aren’t always the same standard as they are in Australia or New Zealand so it’s best to prepare your expectations a little. Most will have air conditioning or fans and some even have swimming pools where you can unwind after a long day of cycling.

Will I be sharing accommodation?

Accommodation on this adventure is based on twin-share or multishare. You will be paired with a teammate of the same gender and, whenever possible, age group. Single rooms are available at an additional cost and subject to availability.

I’m travelling with a friend, can we stay together?

Absolutely! If you’re travelling with a friend, please make note of this and we’ll pair you together.

How is my luggage transported?

You will only need to carry a day-pack with you each day. Your main luggage will be transported between accommodation for you.

How do I fundraise?

Never fundraised before? Not sure where to start? No worries, we don’t expect you to do it alone. You'll have regular support from the Inspired Adventures fundraising team, who will help you make a fundraising plan to meet your target. Alongside personalised coaching, we’ll also send you lots of ideas and resources on how to fundraise. From online fundraising to trivia nights, to bake sales and out-of-the-box ideas, we have years and years of tried and tested tips to make your fundraising a success.

What happens if I don’t meet my fundraising target?

It’s normal to worry you won’t meet your fundraising target, but we know you can do it. In fact, with the support of Inspired Adventures, almost everyone goes on to raise far more than they imagined.

By registering for the adventure, you agree to raise the minimum fundraising amount specified. Like you, we’re looking to make a significant impact for our charity partners, so the goal is for each person to have met their fundraising target before departure. If you fail to raise the minimum fundraising target by this time, we’ll review the situation on a case-by-case basis.

I’m travelling with a friend, can we fundraise together?

Absolutely! Fundraising with a friend is a great idea. Just remember the fundraising target is per person, so you'll each need to meet the minimum fundraising goal to participate. We know you can do it.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

The funds raised for Girl Guides Australia are tax-deductible (conditions apply).

The total cost to participate in this adventure is $3,090 which is inclusive of:

  • Registration fee: $390, or $240 during Early Bird offer (non-refundable after 5 days)
  • Travel cost: $2,700 (includes a $950 non-refundable travel deposit)

In addition, you are also committing to raising $3,000 (per person) for Girl Guides Australia.

What happens if I need to cancel?

If you find yourself unable to attend, please notify us as soon as possible.

  • Cancellation within 5 days of registration will receive a full refund (less card transaction fees).
  • Cancellations more than 90 days prior to departure will receive a full refund minus the $950 deposit, $390 registration fee and card transaction fees.
  • Cancellations within 90 days of departure will receive no refund. Where applicable, we can provide assistance in making a travel insurance claim.

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is required for international travel to cover cancellation, hospital, emergency evacuation and lost luggage. We recommend purchasing your policy as soon as possible. It is up to you to ensure you have fully comprehensive travel insurance and you'll need to share these details with our team before departure. For more information, please visit www.inspiredadventures.com.au/travel-insurance-information.

What happens if there is a medical emergency?

Providing the safest possible environment is our highest priority and we have an outstanding safety record. All Inspired Adventures guides are first aid trained and well-equipped to handle any medical emergencies.

Do I need a visa to travel to Vietnam?

Australian and New Zealand passport holders require a visa for entry into Vietnam. For the most current requirements, refer to the Smartraveller website. If you are a citizen of another nationality, this information may differ.
