The Difference You'll Make
For over 60 years, Heart Foundation has been the trusted organisation working to improve heart disease prevention, detection and support for all Australians. Coronary heart disease is still Australia’s number one killer, taking 51 lives every day. It's our mission to reduce that number to zero.
To do this, we call on the best minds in their field, teamwork, passion of supporters and the generosity of millions of Australians.
Here’s how your support on the Nepal Trek in 2025 could make a difference:
- $50 can cover the cost of basic tools that researchers need to grow heart cells, such as syringes, test tubes, and flasks.
- $80 can help health professionals access the latest guidelines for preventing, diagnosing, and treating heart disease.
- $120 can send free health information to more Australians who need help understanding their risk factors or heart condition.
- $200 can help pay for registration kits for a school to participate in Jump Rope for Heart, helping improve heart-healthy habits.
By taking part, you can help fund life-saving research, education, and support programs that prevent and manage heart disease. Your efforts can help develop better care guidelines, improve patient outcomes, and raise awareness about heart health across Australia.
Together, we can help end the heartache caused by heart disease.
Why you'll love this adventure

How challenging is this adventure?
The Nepal trek is ranked 3/5. While no extensive trekking experience is required prior to registering, it is a physical adventure and the better prepared you are the more you will enjoy it. This adventure involves trekking in remote areas for up to eight hours a day (possibly more, subject to weather conditions and altitude). This adventure will exceed 3,000 metres above sea level. It is essential that you prepare for this challenge. You should aim to walk in hilly terrain for 6-8 hours and get up to do it again comfortably the following day.
You will be well supported on the adventure, with the guides and your team all cheering you on. You are free to move at your own pace and we will take frequent breaks.
How many people will be on my adventure?
We believe small group travel is better for the planet, and better for you. Our adventures average between 10 - 20 participants, connected by their commitment to the greater good.
Can I join an Inspired Adventure on my own?
Of course, most people do! Throughout your adventure journey, we will connect you with your fellow adventurers so you can get to know each other before you hit the road.
What is the general age range of participants?
The minimum age for this adventure is 18, however younger ages are considered on application. We have had participants aged 16–84+ take part in our challenges, all united by their sense of philanthropy and adventure.
I have dietary requirements, will I be catered for?
Of course, we will happily arrange for any dietary requirements you’ve noted during booking to be catered for. Please advise your local guide on Day 1 as well. You will be fed very well while you’re on the adventure, but if you have a very specific dietary requirement or severe allergies, often it’s best to pack some extra things as back-up.
Who is Inspired Adventures?
Heart Foundation has partnered with Inspired Adventures to bring you this adventure of a lifetime. Over the last 19 years, Inspired Adventures has taken over 8,000 people, just like you, on adventures all around the world, raising over $48 million for important causes. When you choose to travel with Inspired Adventures and Heart Foundation, you can be confident you’re in the best hands.
How do I train for this adventure?
It is essential that you prepare for this challenge. We will provide you with a training guide when you register, but we recommend that you consult your GP and a personal trainer to develop a personalised training plan that will prepare you for the challenge. The best physical preparation for a trekis any activity that simulates, as far as possible, the demands on your body during your ascent and descent.
You should aim to make walking up and down hills the main part of your training. Take regular and increasingly long walks to develop your muscles. You should be able to walk with a small pack for up to 8 hours a day for a number of consecutive days.
What is the accommodation like?
Accommodation for this adventure is in 3-star hotels based on twin-share and basic tea houses based on a mix of twin and multi-share . You’ll be in a hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Homestays and lodges are basic but comfortable: single beds, twin-share or multi-share, and shared bathrooms. Be sure to bring your thermals, fleece, beanie, gloves and sleeping bag to stay warm during the night.
Will I be sharing accommodation?
Accommodation on this adventure is based on twin-share and multi-share. You will be paired with a teammate of the same gender and, whenever possible, age group. Single rooms are available at an additional cost and subject to availability.
I’m travelling with a friend, can we stay together?
Absolutely! If you’re travelling with a friend, please make note of this and we will pair you together.
Are showers available?
While showers will likely be available, hot water is sometimes sporadic in mountain guesthouses. Please be ready for cold showers.
What is the food like?
Moroccan food is, generally speaking, excellent though not particularly varied.
Breakfasts usually consist of bread and jam with coffee or tea. Meals eaten out are reasonably priced - kebab and bread cost only about MAD 30. In main towns, it is possible to find very good French and Moroccan restaurants where a meal and French wine will cost anything from MAD 220 upwards. Generally, dinner is likely to cost between MAD 80-120 depending on what you drink - so an estimate for food would be about MAD 150-200 a day.
I have dietary requirements, will I be catered for?
Of course, we will do our best to arrange for any dietary requirements you’ve noted during booking to be catered for. Please note in the rural parts of this itinerary, there may be limited choices for those with dietary requirements.
Will I have mobile phone reception?
If you have worldwide coverage, you can bring your own mobile phone and use it to make domestic or international calls. Please check with your mobile service provider prior to departure regarding international roaming and associated costs. Alternatively, you may wish to purchase a local SIM card. Please ensure your phone is unlocked prior to departure.
Mobile phone reception will be limited during the trek, but generally fine in Marrakech. There will be free Wi-Fi available at the hotels.

By registering for the adventure, you agree to raise the minimum fundraising amount specified. Like you, we are looking to make a significant impact for our charity partners, so the goal is for each person to have met their fundraising target before departure. If you fail to raise the minimum fundraising target by this time, we will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.
I’m travelling with a friend, can we fundraise together?
