The Challenge

Did you know – one in seven Australian women and one in 700 Australian men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime?

Join Trek Towards Zero Deaths: Larapinta 2022 and, with every step you take, you’ll fund world-class research to help NBCF achieve its goal of Zero Deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

Immersed in the rich history of Australia’s First Peoples, over seven days, you’ll follow well-worn, red dirt tracks along the slopes of the West MacDonnell Ranges, beside winding riverbanks, across open plains, up towering mountains and down into shaded gorges.

The Difference You'll Make

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, with nine Australians dying from the disease every day. Incidence is on the rise, with diagnosis rates increasing by 36 per cent in the last ten years. This means more mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, friends and families will be impacted.

  • $500 could support research in personalising breast screening, to account for women who are at high risk of breast cancer, so that breast cancer can be detected earlier.
  • $5,000 could help researchers test a new breast cancer prevention drug in the lab, so that those at high risk may have more options for avoiding breast cancer.
  • $15,000 could help researchers see if certain changes in DNA can identify those at high risk of developing breast cancer, even when it doesn’t run in their family.
