The Difference You'll Make
In February 2027, we will be adventuring in New Zealand because brain cancer teaches us something important - that life is happening right now. There is no waiting for the right moment. No saving dreams for that ‘one day’ in the future. For families we support, each day matters.
Our Inspired Adventures trek is more than a physical challenge. It is a celebration of living in the moment, taking hold of each opportunity, pushing comfort zones, and honouring our people who are navigating the uncertainty of brain cancer.
As Australia's Leading Specialist Brain Cancer Support Charity, we rely solely on donations and partnerships to help us provide vital supportive care programs to families. Our services include National Advocacy Service, Community Brain Cancer Navigators, financial assistance, counselling support, retreats, and community events.
Every step you take will help ensure families across Australia receive the support they need - when they need it most.

Trip notes
Kia ora! Welcome to Queenstown, New Zealand. Today, our trip starts with a pick-up from Steamer's Wharf at 8am and we’ll take a private transfer to Te Anau, the centre of our 4-day walking trip and the gateway to Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound. After dropping off our bags and checking in to our accommodation, we’ll take a scenic drive on Milford Road, stopping for a few short walks and photo opportunities. Our first walk of the trip is on the Routeburn Track where we will walk to Greenstone Valley for the rest of the afternoon along well-formed tracks. We’ll make our way back to the accommodation afterwards to wind down for the evening.

After breakfast take a transfer to the Queens Reach Boat Ramp from where you’ll take a jet boat to Lake Manapouri – formed 20,000 years ago in the most recent ice age and now known as New Zealand’s loveliest lake. Take in the sweeping scenery full of glittering blues and greens, then head out on today’s walk on the Kepler Track. Along the way, appreciate the unique mountainous landscape akin to the wonders of Middle Earth and follow the terraces of the Waiau River through red and mountain beech forests. Cross the river on a swing bridge and stop for a packed lunch at Rainbow Reach. Depending on the time and weather we may stop in at Te Punanga O Manu Te Anau Bird Sanctuary to catch a glimpse at some of New Zealand's rare and endangered birds such as the takahe. Your afternoon today is free. Your guide will have some suggestions on what to do in the area.

This morning we’ll be up bright and early to explore one of the most popular spots in all New Zealand – Milford Sound, known locally as Piopiotahi. We’ll take a private transfer on the Milford Road to the Milford Track, which is described as "the finest walk in the world". From Sandfly Point, we’ll make our way to Giant Gate Falls, passing through rainforest landscapes, countless fern species and the singsong of the New Zealand tūī, korimako bellbirds and kererū. Once we reach the falls that flow into Lake Ada, destined for the Tasman Sea, we’ll stop to take a break for lunch. After our trek, we’ll head to the base of Mitre Peak for a 2-hour boat cruise on Milford Sound to see why this location was dubbed the 'eighth wonder of the world' by Rudyard Kipling. Keep an eye out for bottlenose dolphins and fur seals as we bask in the silence of the fiord and sail past cascades, icy peaks, lush rainforest and twisting inlets.

After breakfast this morning you’ll jump on e-bikes and take a scenic ride on the beautiful Lake 2 Lake Trail, following the Waiau River, with the Fiordland National Park just across the fast flowing waters. Take in lake, riverside and mountain views, native bush, wetlands and farmland scenery. We’ll return to Queenstown Steamers Wharf around 5pm. We recommend you book an extra night’s accommodation in Queenstown. If you do fly home tonight, please ensure your flight departs after 7:30pm.
Note: The e-bike ride will be unaccompanied by your guide. They will be checking in on you at various points of the ride, and will wait for you at the end of the ride for your transport back to Queenstown.

How many people will be on my adventure?
We believe small group travel is better for the planet, and better for you. Our adventures average between 10 - 20 participants, connected by their commitment to the greater good.
Can I join an Inspired Adventure on my own?
Of course, most people do! Throughout your adventure journey, we will connect you with your fellow adventurers so you can get to know each other before you hit the road.
What is the general age range of participants?
The minimum age for this adventure is 18, however younger ages are considered on application. We have had participants aged 16-84+ take part in our challenges, all united by their sense of philanthropy and adventure.
I have dietary requirements, will I be catered for?
Of course, we will happily arrange for any dietary requirements you’ve noted during booking to be catered for. Please advise your local guide on Day 1 as well. You will be fed very well while you’re on the adventure, but if you have a very specific dietary requirement or severe allergies, often it’s best to pack some extra things as back-up.
Do I have to carry my own bag?
On most adventures, you'll only need to carry a day bag with essentials for your day of activities. Your luggage/big backpacks will either stay at your accommodation, be transferred to your next accommodation, or will be carried by porters.

We will provide you with information on how to prepare for your adventure when you register. In addition, we recommend that you consult your GP and a personal trainer to develop a training plan that will prepare you for the challenge.
As part of your training, we recommend making use of your free time to complete several day hikes. You should aim to be able to walk in hilly terrain for 5+ hours comfortably and get up and do it again the next day.
It is sensible to start training as early as possible before you go on your trek.

It’s normal to worry you won’t meet your fundraising target, but we know you can do it. In fact, with the support of Inspired Adventures, almost everyone goes on to raise far more than they imagined.
By registering for the adventure, you agree to raise the minimum fundraising amount specified. Like you, we are looking to make a significant impact for our charity partners, so the goal is for each person to have met their fundraising target before departure. If you fail to raise the minimum fundraising target by this time, we will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.
I’m travelling with a friend, can we fundraise together?
Absolutely! Fundraising with a friend is a great idea. Just remember the fundraising target is per person, so you will each need to meet the minimum fundraising goal to participate. We know you can do it.
