3 March 2021

Our featured participant this month is Julie Martyn, trekking the Larapinta trail with Interplast Australia & New Zealand.

What inspired you to join this adventure?

The combination of being able to support and raise awareness of a remarkable charity such as Interplast, and the adventure of participating in a trek along the spectacular Larapinta Trail. And of course the fact that Turia was involved was very inspiring.

Why is the cause of your charity important to you?

Knowing that the work of Interplast actually changes people’s lives and gives people new opportunities for the future that they may not have otherwise had.

Tell us more about your fundraising journey, what have you done and what are you planning?

Obviously COVID has impacted fundraising options quite a bit but I have found ways of planning events with smaller groups, such as a high tea and champagne afternoon with a raffle and silent auction which was really successful.  My fundraising walk around Melbourne was a real success too. People I have approached throughout my fundraising journey have been very generous and motivated to donate to Interplast, seeing it as a wonderful and worthy cause.

What are you most looking forward to about the adventure?

As I haven’t been to the Northern Territory at all I am really looking forward to seeing the beautiful and unique Australian country.  I’m also looking forward to meeting and sharing the experience with all the other participants.
