Trip notes

Day 1: Front Royal - Gravel Springs Hut

Begin at Front Royal, hiking southbound through Shenandoah National Park on the AT. Cover 8-10 miles to Gravel Springs Hut for your first night's camp.

Day 2: The Pinnacle - Thornton Gap

Continue south for 9 miles, enjoying views from The Pinnacle and Mary's Rock before camping near Thornton Gap.

Day 3: Stony Man Mountain - Rock Spring Hut

Hike 10 miles over Stony Man Mountain and Hawksbill (highest peak in Shenandoah) with multiple waterfall detours possible. Camp at Rock Spring Hut.

Day 4: Swift Run Gap - Big Meadows

Complete your trek with an 8-mile section ending at Swift Run Gap, passing through Big Meadows area with opportunities to spot wildlife.
