On The Epic Bhutan Challenge

Turning Adventure Into Impact

In October 2025, Cherish Women’s Cancer Foundation partnered with Inspired Adventures to embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Himalayas - the Epic Bhutan Cherish Challenge. A team of passionate supporters united for an 87km trek across Bhutan’s awe-inspiring landscapes, raising vital funds to support research into gynaecological cancers and improve survival outcomes for women.

Over several days, Team Cherish trekked through pristine valleys, rhododendron and blue pine forests, and alpine meadows. They ascended the breathtaking Bhonte La Pass, taking in sweeping views of the Paa Chu River Valley and the snow-capped peaks beyond. Along the way, participants visited sacred monasteries, explored vibrant local villages, and stood before the magnificent Buddha Dordenma Statue, one of the largest sitting Buddhas in the world at 51 metres tall.

A moment that captured the spirit of the journey came during a guided meditation by a tranquil mountain lake - an unforgettable experience surrounded by the stillness and serenity of Bhutan’s sacred landscape.

A Note From The Founder Of Cherish, Andreas Obermair

“We have partnered with Inspired Adventures for several years for our fundraising adventures. This Bhutan challenge was a great bucket list destination and trek. One of my favorite moments was when our guide led a beautiful meditation by a mountain lake - it was unreal. Meditation with a stunning lake and mountains behind us was truly one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Throughout the adventure, the team was supported by an outstanding local crew. Their expertise, warmth, and professionalism ensured that every participant felt safe, cared for, and inspired from start to finish.”

About Cherish Women’s Cancer Foundation

Each year, more than 6,700 women in Australia are diagnosed with gynaecological cancer - that’s over 18 women and girls every day. Tragically, almost one-third will not survive their disease.

Cherish Women’s Cancer Foundation funds vital medical research and clinical trials to improve early detection, diagnosis, and treatment outcomes for women affected by cervical, uterine, ovarian, and other gynaecological cancers. Their mission is to find kinder, faster, and more effective treatments, offering women and their families real hope for the future.

Funds raised through the Epic Bhutan Cherish Challenge will help:

  • Advance innovative research and clinical trials for better, less invasive treatments.
  • Improve early detection and diagnostic tools.
  • Enhance survival rates and quality of life for women living with gynaecological cancers.

Impact

The Cherish Bhutan Adventure team raised an incredible $121,101 powering vital research and giving hope to women and families impacted by gynaecological cancers.

This achievement demonstrates the extraordinary power of combining adventure with purpose - a transformative challenge that not only inspires participants but also drives life-changing medical progress.

Conclusion

The Epic Bhutan Cherish Challenge was a journey of compassion, connection, and courage. Against a backdrop of Himalayan peaks and peaceful monasteries, the team discovered the strength of community and the profound impact of purpose-driven adventure.

When purpose meets adventure, the results are truly life-changing.
