The Challenge

On average, one women a week is murdered by her current or former partner in Australia. Men’s violence against women is a social issue – and we’re all responsible for ending it.

As part of Trek for Respect: Scenic Rim 2023 you’ll experience Queensland’s Scenic Rim – a thriving rural paradise that has to be seen to be believed.

Over three days, you’ll immerse yourself in the epic beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests set in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. As you follow world-class walks through the most extensive region of subtropical rainforests in the world, you’ll experience the combined native history of over 180 million years; from a time before Australia existed and this incredible rainforest covered one-fifth of the Earth’s surface. From watering holes and waterfalls, along ancient escarpments and across volcanic plateaus, you’ll discover all that Scenic Rim has to offer while raising vital funds to end men’s violence against women and create the change we need in our communities.

The Difference You'll Make

charity-logo-286x98px

In Australia, intimate partner violence is the leading contributor to illness, disability and premature death for women aged 18 to 44. This not only impacts women physically, but affects their ability to earn an income, maintain secure housing, create meaningful relationships and build fulfilling lives.

On the Trek for Respect: Scenic Rim 2023, you’ll raise vital funds to drive primary prevention initiatives in schools, workplaces and communities to end men’s violence against women before it begins.

Through education, workplace accreditation, advocacy, partnerships and community-led prevention initiatives, you’ll empower White Ribbon Australia to change the attitudes and behaviours that excuse, encourage and support gendered disrespect, sexual harassment, abuse and violence.

Men’s violence against women isn’t unique to any one community, but the solutions are. And together we can equip local communities to enact positive, long-term change to create a safer Australia for all.

Gold Coast – Mount Cordeaux

Welcome to Queensland’s Scenic Rim, a thriving rural paradise in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Your adventure begins on the Gold Coast where you’ll be picked up at 8.30am by your local guide and meet your fellow adventurers. From here, we hit the road and drive towards Mount Cordeaux, the northern side of Cunninghams Gap and overlooking the Scenic Rim. Following the well-worn track to the summit, we pass an abandoned goldmine shaft where gold was never found. At the track’s end, we’re rewarded with showstopping views of the Main Range National Park, the Darling Downs and even the high-rise buildings of Brisbane in the distance. Making our way back down the mountain, we join the Rainforest circuit, venturing through lush vegetation as our guide shares stories and facts about local flora and fauna. We then climb to an incredible lookout serving up views of Lake Moogerah and the Fassifern Valley. In the evening, we return to our accommodation to rest ahead of our first team dinner.
