The Challenge

Type 1 diabetes (T1D) can affect anyone, at any age. There is no way to prevent it and currently no cure.

Join JDRF on the Kokoda Track in 2023 and with every step you take, you’ll raise vital funds to support the best and most promising T1D research into a cure, prevention and treatments.

Beginning in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea’s disparate capital city, over nine days you’ll trek the Kokoda Track from south to north, retracing the steps of ANZAC soldiers. Following time-worn jungle trails, you’ll trek through rugged mountain terrain, across clear, flowing rivers and into remote villages. You’ll learn about the historical significance of the Track and experience firsthand the extraordinary cultures of the region.

Best of all, as part of this incredible adventure, your fundraising and physical efforts will help change the lives of over 125,000 Australians living with T1D.

The Difference You'll Make

JDRF Logo

When you join Team One Trek Kokoda, you’ll raise vital funds to support the best and most promising T1D research to find a cure and improve lives.

JDRF Charity image

Living with T1D involves injecting insulin multiple times a day or receiving insulin infusions via a pump worn on the body. People with T1D also need to check their blood glucose levels several times a day with painful finger pricks or by wearing a Continuous Glucose Monitor, in order to avoid dangerous high or low blood glucose episodes.

As part of this life-changing challenge, every step you take will bring JDRF one step closer to turning type one into type none.

Every $1,000 you raise could fund a month of testing and glucose monitoring equipment for one clinical research participant.

Clinical research is the key to finding a cure and improving the lives of those with T1D. It is the final step in getting innovative new therapies to Australians who need them.

Best of all, with every step you take, you’ll raise vital funds to help accelerate life-changing breakthroughs, find cures and improve the lives of those with T1D and help turn type one into type none.
