The Challenge

Melanoma is the third most common cancer and every six hours, one Australian dies from melanoma.

In April 2023, you’re invited to journey to the heart of Australia to raise funds for melanoma prevention and treatment. Immersed in the rich history of Australia’s First Peoples, as part of Never Walk Alone Larapinta Trek 2023, you’ll follow well-worn, red dirt tracks along the slopes of the West MacDonnell Ranges, beside ancient winding riverbanks, across open plains, over towering mountains and into shaded gorges. At night, you’ll camp under black skies filled with silver stars, and fall asleep to the nocturnal sounds of the desert.

With every step you take through Australia’s iconic Red Centre, you’ll raise vital funds to grow and extend patient support programs and improve the quality of life of Australians affected by melanoma.

The Difference You'll Make

Melanoma is deadly serious. But you can do something about it.

charity-image-670x400px

You can help provide support to other melanoma patients like Audrey and her family (photo above).

When Audrey was first diagnosed, Melanoma Patients Australia was there to offer support and guidance in her time of need.

Despite being one of Australia’s most prevalent cancers, melanoma is often dismissed as “not as serious” as other cancers.

Treatments have improved and more people are surviving. But through a lack of understanding in the community, Australians diagnosed with melanoma often deal with unnecessary trauma and distress. Survivors live with fear of recurrence, side effects from treatment, impacts on quality of life, disfigurement, loss of income and more. They may not know what to do or how to cope.

With your support, we can increase knowledge and awareness of melanoma in the community and provide vital services and support to help families across Australia.

You can help make every melanoma diagnosis less devastating and create a world where no one affected by melanoma walks alone.
