The Challenge

In 2022, more than 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and more than 3,200 will die from it. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Join the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in their goal to reach zero deaths from breast cancer by joining the NBCF Outback Trek Toward Zero Deaths in May 2023. You’ll take part in a Larapinta Trail walking adventure that explores some of the most spectacular parts of the Australian outback. In fact, this hike is one of the finest multi-day walking adventures anywhere in the world. Follow the trail through the West MacDonnell Ranges, take in the majesty of this exceptional landscape then sleep beneath the stars when night falls.

The Difference You'll Make

Since the inception of the NBCF in 1994, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer in Australia has increased from 76% to 92%, and it’s getting even better. With support from people like you, NBCF will continue their work until they reach their goal: Zero deaths from breast cancer.

  • $1,000 can support researchers to improve imaging techniques to better detect tumours in younger women
  • $3,000 can support world-class researchers to fast-track the discovery of more effective therapies
  • $5,000 could allow researchers to uncover more targeted and personalised treatments with fewer side-effects
  • $10,000 could help researchers develop a simple, non-invasive blood test to predict, detect and monitor the return and spread of breast cancer
