The Challenge

Explore the Tarkine’s remote and rugged landscape over five days while raising funds to support the relief work of ShelterBox Australia. You can provide urgent aid to families displaced by conflict or natural disasters by raising funds for emergency shelters and tools to help them rebuild their lives.

To raise these important funds for ShelterBox Australia, you will join a team of like-minded supporters on an extraordinary trip to the Tarkine - a wild and ancient rainforest reserve in Tasmania’s north-west. The Tarkine’s landscapes are impressively diverse. From the verdant temperate rainforest, to the ocean’s roar against the craggy coastline, to the spectacular views on Mount Donaldson, each day will provide its own challenges and its own unique rewards.

Join the team to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable families and discover the spectacular secrets of Tasmania’s Tarkine.

Over 113 million people are displaced in the world as a result of war or natural disasters. When a disaster hits and robs families of their homes, their most urgent need is for shelter.

ShelterBox Australia have made it their mission to see no one go without shelter after a disaster. They work in hard-to-reach communities affected by war or natural disaster and provide essential equipment for those who have lost everything but their lives.

The funds that you raise will pay for emergency aid and practical tools.

  • $30 could buy a solar light.
$50 could buy a water filter
$100 could buy a shelter kit
    $500 could buy a tent
$1,000 could buy a complete Shelter Box

With your help, these families will be given the essential tools they need to survive and to help them begin the long journey of recovery.

Depart Launceston

We recommend that you arrive the night before to be ready to meet your team and guides at 7:45am at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Launceston this morning. Then we’re off to the Tarkine!  After a pleasant two-hour drive, we’ll stop for morning tea in the seaside town of Penguin. Then it’s on to Hellyer Gorge where we begin our trek on a relatively easy nine-kilometre route which includes Philosopher’s Falls, a delightful introduction into the Tarkine. Later, we’ll settle into our lodge in Corinna – home for the next three nights – and enjoy a delicious welcome dinner.
