About the adventure and fundraising
Why Miracle Babies Foundation?
Rohan shared that they didn’t get the support they needed when his now 11-year-old daughter Elka was born prematurely at 29 weeks. Rohan’s experience inspired him to take on a challenge to raise funds for a charity dedicated to helping families of premature babies, ensuring others don’t face similar hardships without crucial support.
Miracle Babies supports families navigating the emotional and medical complexities of premature and critically ill newborns, offering vital peer support, education, and advocacy. Through their Kilimanjaro climb, Rohan and his team sought to raise both awareness and funds for the foundation.
Rohan’s Handpicked Team For An Unforgettable Adventure
As a Director at Salesforce, Rohan leveraged his leadership and vision to assemble a trusted team for the Kilimanjaro climb. Alongside his daughters, Elka and Anika, he invited close friends and colleagues who shared his commitment to the cause. His colleague Andre played a pivotal role in the fundraising campaign, while the team’s doctor, James, provided essential health and safety guidance throughout their preparation and the climb. The group met monthly and also went on many practice hikes together, including Mount Kosciusko in March 2024, creating a strong bond and ensuring everyone was ready for the challenge ahead.
Fundraising Highlights
The team’s dedication to fundraising matched their determination on the mountain, with each member contributing in unique and impactful ways:
- Salesforce Tower Stairclimb
Rohan and Andre organised a successful campaign at Salesforce, raising significant funds and drawing widespread support for the cause. The Salesforce Tower Stairclimb was a thrilling fundraising event held in Salesforce’s Sydney office. The event challenged participants to climb the tallest building in the city, standing an impressive 53 stories tall. The day was a resounding success, with over 100 participants coming together to raise awareness and vital funds for premature and critically ill newborns. The event wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of its founding sponsors, including Deloitte, Accenture, Wipro, and 8Squad. In a single day, the Salesforce Tower Stairclimb raised over $25,000!
- Uniform free-day
Anika, Elka’s older sister, hosted a uniform-free day at her school, raising over $1,000 for Miracle Babies Foundation.
- Corporate sponsors
Coforge contributed $2,100, inspired by the numerological significance of the number 21. In their message of support, they shared, “In Numerology, the number 21 is believed to carry positive vibrations, symbolising transformative change and the expansion of one's horizons. It's also called the 'number of perfection.'
The team also received incredible support from Salesforce, Deloitte, Accenture, Wipro, Pegasystems, and 8Squad, whose contributions played a vital role in their success.
Conquering Kilimanjaro
Through their incredible efforts, Rohan and his team raised awareness, vital funds (an astounding $51,485) for Miracle Babies foundation, and hope for families facing some of life’s toughest challenges. It was an incredible experience for all!
To add another layer to the adventure, Elka’s school donated sports equipment to the Amani Centre for Street Children, to give back to the community in Tanzania.
A private departure was a truly unique and rewarding way to combine adventure with purpose. It allowed them to share an incredible journey with people they cherish, creating lasting memories while fundraising and raising awareness for a charity close to their hearts.
