Salesforce’s Larapinta Trek

For DeadlyScience

How Fundraising Adventures Drive Corporate Engagement, CSR, and Lasting Impact

The Adventure

In 2025, Salesforce took on the DeadlyScience Larapinta Trek as a unique way to support their charity partner, DeadlyScience. This Inspired Adventures experience offered the Salesforce team an opportunity to strengthen their connection to purpose, immerse themselves in Indigenous culture, and come together for an important cause.

We interviewed Kylie from Salesforce, whose reflections are captured throughout this blog. Alongside her colleagues and other DeadlyScience supporters, Kylie helped raise crucial funds to support DeadlyScience’s mission: empowering First Nations youth and amplifying the contributions of First Nations scientists.

This adventure is a powerful example of how corporate teams can step outside the office to engage in meaningful team-building while creating real impact for their charity partners.

“Speaking for myself, and from the feedback I have got from the team, the experience was unforgettable and one that was VERY special to all of us. It was an honour to be on Country in this capacity together.”

The Larapinta Trail, with its rugged beauty and deep cultural significance, provided the perfect backdrop for reflection and connection. Standout moments weren’t limited to one part of the trek:

“Every day! The guides were unbelievable. The team connected over the campfire at night, sharing stories from the day, our feelings and emotions. We played wonderful games and connected deeply. We walked barefoot through the sacred waters and stood in stillness and silence in the gorge. Appreciating all the beautiful nature around us was unreal.”

Without the distractions of phones or work, the team fully embraced the opportunity to engage and bond on a deeper level:

“It felt spiritual, and due to no signal and being in the moment, we all really got to know each other on many different levels.”

Purpose & Partnership

For Salesforce, choosing to support DeadlyScience was a natural fit, reflecting the company’s values around equity, learning, and innovation:

“The incredible work they do for First Nations scientists. It is so important.”

Fundraising for the trek became a collaborative and creative journey for the team.

“We made sure we had different activations: bake sales, raffles, and I spent a lot of time creating personal content for LinkedIn, personally reaching out to friends, family, and workmates for their support.”

The adventure provided a meaningful link between Salesforce employees and the cause they were supporting:

“It made me appreciate Country. It opened my eyes, heart and mind to what is around me daily.”

Reflection & Impact

The trek left a lasting impression, not just as a physical challenge, but as a shared experience that united people from all walks of life.

“Memorable. An experience of a lifetime, one that we won’t ever forget. We made friends with people outside our workplace, and that was special too.”

Kylie believes that this kind of immersive experience could shape the way Salesforce approaches partnerships and staff engagement going forward:

“I would say so - it’s a great way to connect, raise funds, and build awareness.”

Her advice to other corporate leaders considering something similar is simple:

“Do it! It’s a unique way to spend time with employees. It’s important to get out to Country and be on the land. It drives more engagement in the ‘why’ behind the charity.”

Why Fundraising Adventures Are Powerful for Corporate Teams

The DeadlyScience Larapinta Trek is a shining example of how adventure-based fundraising can benefit companies, their employees, and the causes they support:

  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): A tangible way to live out company values while supporting meaningful initiatives.
  • Team Building: Shared challenges, campfire conversations, and time in nature create deeper bonds and stronger teams.
  • Staff Engagement: Stepping away from the office and digital distractions allows employees to connect authentically and feel part of something bigger.
  • Cause Awareness: By experiencing the journey first hand, participants gain a personal understanding of the impact they’re making, creating powerful ambassadors for the charity.
  • Lasting Memories: The combination of adventure, purpose, and connection leaves teams inspired and motivated long after they return.
